The scenario

Lost Hope Survival

Persistent PvPvE survival on Nizla Island, built on the Lost Hope Dynamic Framework. Fight the infected and bandits, loot, trade, buy and lock vehicles, build bases and run missions. Your character, money, vehicles and base are kept over restarts.

  • Spawn at the US main base. The base and the trader posts are safe zones: no player damage, no explosives.
  • The infected hold most towns and roam in hordes; bandits hold the military sites and industry, patrol the roads and set ambushes.
  • The island fights back: cleared ground does not stay empty, and where players push hard the enemy digs in.
  • Missions across the island (clear, destroy, rescue, hold) pay in money and gear.
  • Death is final: you respawn at the base with a random starter kit, and your gear stays on your body. Logging out while unconscious counts as death.

01Framework

Modules

The systems of the server, one mod each.

Core banner

Core

Core

The framework underneath every LHDF mod: JSON settings per mod, saved data in the vanilla save, one Game Master attribute tab, admin rights, a shared world index and a work queue.

  • Your character comes back after a restart: gear, position and health.
  • All LHDF data (accounts, vehicles, bases) is kept in the server save.
  • Game Masters get one "LHDF" tab to change the server live.
  • Long jobs are spread over many frames, so the server keeps its frame rate.
Shop banner

Shop

Shop

Traders, player accounts and cash. Buy and sell items, vehicles and helicopters in a shop window, bank your cash, and let the server check every trade.

  • Your account balance is safe on death; carried cash ($100, $500, $1000 notes) can be lost and looted.
  • Bank at the traders: deposit cash, withdraw it, or send money to another online player.
  • 8 shop types: General store, Gun store, Outfitter, Medic, Vehicle and Helicopter dealer, Bank, and a hidden Black market.
  • Shop window with categories, search, 3D previews and item stats, for mouse and controller.
  • Vehicles are delivered next to the trader and can be sold back, priced by their health.
Encounters banner

Encounters

Encounters

Enemy AI encounters and missions: zones, camps, patrols, location enemies, encounters near players, missions with tasks and rewards, and directors that adapt sectors.

  • Zones, camps, patrols, ambushes and squads wake when a player comes within 600 m.
  • Cleared encounters come back after a while, never right next to players.
  • 17 mission types, from clearing and sabotage to rescue, hunts and last stands, in the normal task list.
  • Mission rewards: items at the target, and money split between the players who were there.
  • Directors run sectors of the map and decide what moves into ground players have cleared.
Loot Spawner banner

Loot Spawner

Loot

Loot in buildings and on open ground, spawned near players and removed when nobody is near. Five loot modes, a vanilla item pool and Game Master areas.

  • Every building has a loot type (residential, medical, police, military, commercial, industrial).
  • Loot appears when you come close and is removed when nobody has been near for a while.
  • The same roll comes back on your next visit until the respawn time is over.
  • Named places (cities, towns, bases, airports, ports) raise or lower the loot chances.
  • Magazines come with a random fill.
Metabolism banner

Metabolism

Metabolism

Food, water, energy and body temperature: eat, drink from canteens, wells and rivers, stay fed for energy, stay warm, or take damage.

  • Food and water fall faster when you run, swim or carry a heavy load; energy comes back when you are well fed and rest.
  • Night, rain, wind and height make you cold; clothing, shelter, vehicles and fires keep you warm. Wet clothes warm less.
  • Drink from canteens, wells, pumps, taps and rivers (not the sea).
  • Low values cost you health regeneration and stamina; at the end you take damage.
  • A small HUD shows a value only when it gets low. Values survive logout and restart.
Vehicle Lock banner

Vehicle Lock

Vehicle Lock

Vehicle ownership, locks and keys: lock and unlock, give keys, hand over, claim, a manage window and a vehicle spawner. Owned vehicles are saved.

  • Lock your vehicle: nobody without access gets in, opens the storage, refuels or repairs it.
  • Give keys to friends, take them back, or hand the vehicle over, in one manage window.
  • Owned vehicles are saved with position, damage, fuel and cargo, and the garbage system leaves them alone.
  • Vehicle spawners keep a vehicle at its spot and replace it once it is taken or destroyed.
Game Master Additions banner

Game Master Additions

GM Additions

Map Entity Hider, Safe Zones with damage, weapon and AI rules, and search, sort and filter in the Game Master entity list.

  • Safe zones: no player or vehicle damage, no weapons or explosives, and AI that stays inside is removed.
  • Map Entity Hider: clears buildings, trees, rocks or walls from an area, and the AI navmesh follows.
  • Game Master entity list with search, sorting, a faction filter and group members.
  • Everything placed is kept in the server save.
